Dear fans of film art,

it is my great pleasure to take over the patronage of such exceptional 
cultural event as the Days of European Film. The annual non-competitive 
show of the best of European cinematography for the past year is 
successfully entering its second quarter century and brings us again a 
comprehensive picture of contemporary film in Europe. It also provides 
space for introducing less-known and often neglected cinematographic 
productions of smaller countries. 
 
This year, the Days of European Film represent more than 40 
contemporary films, many of which have been awarded at major national 
and international festivals. For most of the films this will be the 
Czech premiere. We do not usually see them in Czech cinemas or 
television, but thanks to this opportunity we get to know a world that 
we may not have known so far. 
 
Like any respected film show, the European Film Days offer a rich 
accompanying program for the general public as well as professional 
seminars for film professionals. 
 
I wish the Days of European Film a happy start to the second quarter 
century, many interesting films and enthusiastic audience. Let the 
upcoming years be as successful as the previous one.
