Darling is a world famous ballet dancer who returns home to Copenhagen where she intends to take a role in a new play. But when she discovers her health will not allow her to perform, she decides to groom her successor.
The world of ballet is tough on mind and body, few can endure it for very long. Returning to Copenhagen, Darling discovers that because of damage to her hips, she will have to stop dancing. She decides to become a trainer to a young girl called Polly. A dark Scandinavian portrait of an obsession with art and the inability to ever let up.
