Dear Visitors of this year’s Days of European Film,

Let me cordially greet you on the occasion of the next year of this unique and popular film festival.

The capital city of Prague has been a proud partner of the Days of European Film for many years and this support will continue further. One of the festival’s aims, to show that the European idea is a useful and utmost viable project, is in my view as important as the presentation of contemporary European cinematography as such. And Prague, as a cultural metropolis of Central Europe, of course has a great interest in participating in the European idea presentation.

At first glance, it may sometimes seem that the idea of European integration has not worked recently. But that’s not true. Not only the existence of similar events such as the Days of European Film, but above all a great interest in them, confirms me that we are on the right track and only in close cooperation of European states and nations is our strength and future. It is thanks to also this cooperation that such works that we can enjoy every year at the festival are being created.
